今時の起業家による10の格言

今日は軽く、最近の起業家による格言的なものをいくつか。長いのを読む時間も労力もない時にでもちょっとしたインスパイアがあるかも、です。どれもシンプルなので訳は割愛しますが、質問があればコメント欄にお願いします。

人生論的なものから実用レベルのものまで様々ですが、腑に落ちるものもいくつかあるのでは。

エンジニア獲得のあの手この手

シリコンバレーではエンジニアが神様だという話は、皆さん聞いたことがあると思います。

もちろんエンジニアと一括りにするのは極めて乱暴ではあるのですが、応じて、一般的に報酬は結構なものです。確か給料の平均は1000万円くらいですが、その他ボーナスや当たれば大きいストックオプション、諸々の「福利厚生」を含めるとかなりのものです。

GoogleやFacebook、Twitterの類の会社のいわゆるスタープレーヤーになると、破格になるわけで、10億円、さらには20億円プレーヤーもいらっしゃいまする（純粋な給料だけなら数千万円単位ですが）。なんかもうプロスポーツみたいですね。

そんなわけでタレント獲得・つなぎとめはかなり競争が激しく、ここ数年「福利厚生」はかなり膨張した感があります。

例えば、よく知られる朝昼晩のグルメな食事付きだけでなく、自分好みのコンピューターやモニターといった仕事道具を指定できたり、というのは小さなスタートアップでもデフォルトに近いくらいになりました。

更には昨日読んだ記事によると、経験豊富で優秀なエンジニアの要望に応えるため、ドラムスタジオのレンタルは結構需要が高く、テスラ（セダンの方ですが）のレンタカーを1年供給したりなんかもあるそうです。引き手数多の優秀クラスだと、何が何でも、という具合。

一方普通クラスのエンジニア獲得にも相当力が入るようで、同記事によると、面接などで会社を訪問させる際には「より和気藹々に見えるように」ステージングするところもあるとか。ステージングというのは、モデルルームとかでおしゃれなカスタムサイズの家具や花をセットアップすることで印象を良くするアレで、この場合は、社員をその時間にわざとビリヤードさせたり、設置したバーで談笑させたり、ということのよう。

こういう見せ掛けのものは正直どうかと思いますけど、多分見る方はちゃんと見ていて、それでいてそんな「獲得したいという姿勢」が嬉しくてYesという場合もあるかもしれないですね。

というわけで、あいかわらず浮かれ気分のシリコンバレーですが、もう少しこの波は続きそうな感じです。
